Back Office Printer Not Printing

Issue: The back office printer is not printing.

 

Potential Issues:

 

  1. Printer has no power
  2. The printer is jammed
  3. The printer has no toner 
  4. Validate your computer is on the correct network
  5. Reboot the printer
  6. Reboot your computer 

 

Validate the printer has power 

  1. The light on the front of the printer should be illuminated or intermittently flashing if the printer has power.
  2. Validate on the back of the printer that the power cable is plugged in completely 

  3. Validate the outlet has power by plugging in a outlet tester or an item you know works (i.e. phone charger)

  4. If the outlet does not power open a ticket with Facilities 

 

Validate the printer does not have Paper Jam 

Most of the time the printer will indicate if it jammed by an error message on the printer display screen

 

Areas to check  

  • Toner Compartment
    • Open the toner door and remove the toner
  • Tray Compartment (front of the printer)
  • Tray Compartment (back of the printer)

 

Validate the printer has toner 

The printer will indicate if the toner is low

  • Printer Will indicate if toner is low 

  • Important:  You should ONLY be purchasing toner from MSI based on our contract.  To purchase toner, call MSI from the phone number on the sticker located on the front of the printer. 

 

Reboot the Printer 

  1. Press the power button 

  2. Let printer remain off for 2 minutes 
  3. Press the power button: The printer may take several minutes to power on

 

Reboot your computer 

  1. Click Start (Windows logo on taskbar)
  2. Click Power
  3. Select Restart
  4. Wait for your computer to reboot itself.

 

Validate your computer is on the correct network

 

  • Validate your computer has internet access
    • If Wi-Fi 
      • Validate you are on the CRG or Fresh Kitchen Wi-Fi:  Important:  Guest Wi-Fi does not have access to the printer.
    • If LAN 

      • You are connected to the correct network
