Beeping in the Restaurant

Issue: There is a beeping noise in the restaurant.

Note: It is probably the EMV reader or the UPS.

EMV Reader Beeping

This is caused by the EMV reader not communicating with its POS terminal.  There will be a white bar at the bottom of the screen that says "waiting to connect."

  1. Validate the POS terminal is plugged in and powered on.
    1. Tap the screen to wake it up.

    2. If it doesn't wake up, power on the terminal by holding down the physical button on the hardware.

    3. Wait a few seconds for it to load the software.

  2. Validate the software is running (Can you clock in?  Are you able to take an order?)

    1. If you're only seeing a windows desktop, then you need to start the software.

    2. Double-click the software icon on the desktop.

    3. The POS should now load and you should be able to clock in.

If EMV reader is fixed, you will not see the waiting to connect logo or hear further beeping.

UPS (Back Up Battery) Beeping

This is caused by the UPS running on the battery and not from the outlet.

  1. Validate power is to the outlet (lightning or construction may trip the breaker and/or the GFCI Outlet).
  2. If there is no power, contact facilities ASAP
  3. If power is restored, the beeping should stop
  4. If beeping does not stop, call the Fresh Tech team.  DO NOT unplug the UPS or any device.
